A mixed bag on a rainy Saturday morning

Look what I found growing on the compost pile. Some daffodils happily kicking back. They must have been raked off my flower hill some weeks ago during spring cleaning. I suspect my husband. I always do when things are out of order. Poor guy, always guilty until proven innocent.
I'm in love with Frizzy Lizzy. Those frilly pansies are my favorite, among many. I wanted to buy them the other day, but I've decided this year not to buy any plants until I know where they are going to be planted. No more impulse buys. It's hard though, flowers are so seductive the way they lure you in with their beauty and sometimes intoxicating scents.
Not a great pic, below, but I promised a few readers (Charlotte, and Helena) to show a picture of the tulips that has three little flowers on each set of leaves. In reality, the red color is very bright and almost light up my hill as much as the yellow daffodils. I'd like to add some more tulips for the next spring to make a little bit more of a statement. They are awfully cute. As they are so small, the leaves don't make too much of a mess ass they die down and are easily covered by the next wave of plants and flowers.
Well, there is going to be rain all day today, but tomorrow's going to be a break and maybe I'll take some time to spend in my herb garden. I went to Target the other day and made a few purchases I'd like to put to use: Arugula seeds $1.69, a Mesclun mix $1.69, and 2 rubber faced gardening gloves for $1 each. Beat that price! Love Target's $1 shelves.

  1. What a lovely discovery! I am yet to get my daff bulbs in the ground. Hopefully this week. I love the pansies and tulips too, they look like what we call rockery tulips.
Re my rose bush, it has a little black spot at the moment (lots of rain and watering with humid weather) but nothing too bad. It doesn't seem to get pests.
Enjoy the rest of the weekend :)

  3. Hej Annelie,

  5. Hi Annelie. What pretty pansies. I love the burgundy and deep purple ones. Your tulips are lovely gems. Wonderful variegated leaves on them. Are they species tulips?
    Have a great weekend.

  6. Oh, love those pansies. You know, I planted pansies here in December (I live in the south, it's ok), because I was hosting a shower and needed to spruce up the back yard, and they did okay this winter but boy have they gone wild now! Gorgeous! I am enjoying them while they last!

Anyway, so glad to find you, I'm a new follower!

    Helena

  9. Ljuvligt med så små tulpaner! Men blommorna är fortfarande stora.
