Last summer I bought two poppy plants of the same kind, expecting them to flower over the summer. But nothing happened. No flowers.
I love poppies, and I have tried them several times before without success.
So this spring, I noticed these fuzzy leaves coming up by my lamp post in the front yard. Imagine my excitement. I had forgotten about them. Thought I had planted annuals, but they are back.
It looks like only one of the plants will flower, it has about five buds on it. And believe me, I would still be jumping up and down from excitement even if there was only one bud. Poppies belong to the category of flowers that makes my knees week.
Here's the thing thought. I cannot for the world figure out why one plant likes it and the other doesn't, even though they are growing side by side under the exact same conditions.
Same thing happened with my Alba Bleeding Heart - two next to each growing with the exact same conditions. One thrives and the other one is barely there.
