My kind of garden shop

As promised yesterday, here is my latest garden shop discovery. The sign reads Panetta's Farm, but my receipt (yes, I had to buy a little something) says Gerard's, and they are located on the busy Route 2 in Lincoln, Massachusetts. As mentioned in the previous post, I came back for the huge daisies that I saw while driving by on my way to the beach last Sunday. If it hadn't been for those, I probably wouldn't have bothered coming back. From the outside they look pretty much like any other garden center. Nothing out of the ordinary. At least not while driving by at 50 miles per hour. No time for details if you know what I mean.

But once I stepped out of the car, I realized that this was no ordinary place. There was a lot to take in. Beautiful plants and ornaments wonderfully intermingled, takes your breath away.

Quality, not quantity appears to be the rule. There are only a few plants of each kind here, but every plant is very happy and healthy looking. I like the playfulness and placements of plants like the daisies tucked in to this pulled out drawer.

I was happily browsing the garden when I caught a peak of the inside. Whoa, the inside is like a little treasure chest filled with decor, antiques, ornaments, a few amazing looking hydrangeas and other plants. And at the register, a small, but nice selection of treats, chocolaty ones. Mmm.... A chocolate- caramel turtle almost got to go home with me. Or, most likely, it would have been gone by the time I got back to the car. Anyhow, I dodged that temptation.

There is so much to take in that by my third time around (the owners must have thought I was nuts), I was still discovering things I hadn't noticed before. It might be hard to see, but if you click on the pictures they become larger and maybe you can see two ornaments I really liked. On the table to the left is a rust colored pair of open hands, and on top of the bird house roof, there is a little bird. Me likey.

I most likely will be back to walk around and dream about plants and ornaments for the perfect garden, but this is not a place where I will do any major shopping. The prices were on the steep side. All I afforded my self was a small merlot red Geran... I mean, Pelargonium. You can see it at the bottom left of the top picture.

  1. Hi Annelie. Wow! Girl you sound like me. In places like that I wander around and a round fearing I will miss something or wanting to soak in all of the great ideas and possibilities. My sons tells me "Mom your spinning out" LOL! What wonderful decor and staging of plants. I am now soaking up your pictures LOL! Look at those giant Gerbera daisies!

  4. Vilken skattkammare....

  5. I love this place. Stop by there several times. Even drive out just to see what they are up to. It is so beautiful there and I would love to own everything they have. I usually shop there for hostess gifts. I was actually going to do a post to on Gerard's!

  8. So nice it looks with flowers and spring.
We have still lots of snow, but today it rains, so I hope the snow melts away.
    Good weekend!

  9. Hocking Hills- that's just it. I don't want to miss any thing. And what if there is a bargain waiting to be found somewhere?
Noelle- next time I go, I might have to leave my wallet at home. :)
Kristin- thank you too, for stopping by.
Jamilyn, so great with a reader who has actually been there. If you do a post, let me know. That would be fun to read.
I love pretty little things - thank you, and welcome!
Sarah - "window shopping" is great sometimes. No money spent.
GryNoKa-thanks. Can't believe you still have snow. Good weekend to you all too.

  12. You are insane. Place is dirty and dusty. Products out of date.
Fresh fruit I chose was switched by owner behind counter... unbelieveable!! I am still in shock... she switched my pears to 5 badly bruised specimens, old rotten grapes, not the lovely slightly under ripe ones I had picked out. EVEN my apples were not safe from this con artist.. shocking still in disbelief. .. omg..
Please support local but not this disgusting place..
