Bake-Sale Berry Pies

It's been raining for three days straight now. After way too many weeks of no rain at all, it was way over due. But my plan for this last week of summer before school starts was to go peach picking and raspberry picking. I had planned to maybe make some pies, some jam... oh, I don't know, just something fruity or berryish.

After a library visit last week, the kids had gotten really excited about a book called "What's new Cupcake?" and had begged me to make some of them.
So, rainy day as it was, and no berries at hand, we picked a cupcake recipe from the book called Bake-sale Pies, and made them.

The berries here are in the form of candy, m&m's to be exact.
We need a little practice with the frosting, and perhaps a piping bag tool would help too.

It sure was fun making these with the kids, but the desire to go pick some real fruit and berries still remains.
I think we might have one more day of wet blah weather, but maybe then, after that, we can visit some of the orchards around here.

Side note.
The man in the house peeked over my shoulder as I was writing this, shaking his head saying "No, no, no! That's not nature you're writing about." Perhaps not, but this is my blog, not his!

  1. Annelie,

Those cupcakes are so unreal looking! Then you mentioned M&Ms.... I bet these would work great for teachers to give to over active school children before they go home for the day. Will stay tuned for the nature portion of this blog, do enjoy a recipe once in a while.

  2. How cute are those? And tell your hubby that God created chocolate, too. Ask him where he thinks chocolate comes from? ;-)

    Kram

  4. Oh my goodness, aren't these fun! I think I'd preer the real berry ones too, the fruit makes me think they're a litle bit healthier. I like to justify healthiness any way I can!

  5. Randy- Funny, can you imagine doing that in school? Glad you enjoy an occasional recipe.
Kylee-Exactly my line of defense last night when I wrote the post. :)
Hihi.
Sarah-Honestly, I would have preferred real berries too. A bit much with the m&m's.

  8. Kära bloggsyster,
UNDERBARA cupcakes och definitivt my kind of nature!

  12. Hi Annelie,
I love them...berries come from nature and so does all the other ingredients used to make them. They look fantastic and I bet they were yummy. What a fun thing to do with the kids. I think you should make the broccoli ones that are in the book too and post a photo of real broccoli with the confection one!

    P.S.
Did you save one for me?

Sanna- Tack!
Susan- Thanks! You're right, it all comes from the nature. Sorry, didn't save you any, but I do have some peaches for you.
